Description

Have you always wanted to be able to tell a story in a way that draws people in? Have you shared an important time in your life or an experience you have had -- and found others could really relate? Would you like to be able to do this even more effectively?

We know that telling our stories and listening to others' stories is more important now than ever if we are to better understand one another so that we can work together to dismantle barriers and heal our planet. We also know that many find it hard to talk to an audience, craft a story that creates the intended impact, or share about themselves. This will be a safe space to play, share and listen and to develop a story from your life that you know is important to tell.  Participants will gain confidence with speaking in public, some storytelling techniques and a process they can use to develop other stories. This is a storytelling class for teens and adults -- no children under 14 please. Max: 8.

Instructors: Julie Meltzer and Paige Collins

Julie Meltzer was a founding member of the Cape Cod Storytellers Group. Julie's M.ED from Lesley University focused on storytelling, arts education and creative movement. She has performed stories all over New England and Southwest Virginia. She loves the creative process of developing a story for performance and listening to stories that are well told.

Paige Collins is committed to helping people give voice to their experiences. She is looking forward to working with participants to tell their stories in powerful ways that support others to listen deeply. Both Julie and Paige believe that sharing our stories is a critical piece to healing our world.
