Description

John Lennon, Assistant Chief of the Bar Harbor Fire Department, will lead a “Stop the Bleed” class at the Jesup Memorial Library on Wednesday, May 2 at 6 p.m. The class will teach the basics of bleeding control for bystanders. This class is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The class will cover the ABCs of bleeding control and teaching participants how to provide immediate, frontline aid until first responders are able to take over care of an injured person. Participants will learn how to use tourniquets and along with other techniques to control bleeding.

The “Stop the Bleed” campaign was initiated by a federal interagency workgroup convened by the National Security Council Staff, The White House. The purpose of the campaign is to build national resilience by better preparing the public to save lives by raising awareness of basic actions to stop life threatening bleeding following everyday emergencies and man-made and natural disasters.

To register contact the Jesup at 207-288-4245 or come in and sign up at the front desk.
