This week’s star is Sirius, and she’s serius-ly cute! This sweet girl came to the SPCA-HC as a stray with her kitten. Her kitten was adopted and she’s enjoying the empty-nester life, but now she’s waiting for her furever home. Raising a kitten as a stray was quite stressful so she can be a bit shy when meeting new people. Once she has a few minutes to warm up, Sirius a silly, playful gal! She likes to show her belly, get the zoomies, and fling her favorite toys around. Sirius loves “kicker” toys, cat wands, and anything with catnip! Churu is one of her snacks and is a quick way to gain her love and trust. Chaos can be a bit of a deterrent and bring out her shy side initially, so a home that is playful but will give her time to acclimate is what she’s looking for.
Remember folks, the 3-3-3 rule! 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to start settling in, and 3 months to fully feel at home. This varies by pet but is a general guideline for what to expect when bringing a new cat or dog home. Sirius is a really sweet, gentle girl and we love that her confidence has built enough to show her goofy side! We hope the right family can continue to foster that confidence in her. If you’re “sirius” about Sirius, please fill out an adoption application at www.spcahancockcounty.org.
